dialectic Journal of book 7 in The Gates Of Fire

Quote: (291-292pg.)Their valor was breathtaking, beyond reckless to the point of madness. It became sacrifice, pure and simple; the Medes gave up their bodies as if flesh itself were a weapon. In minutes the Spartans, and no doubt the Mycenaeans and Phliasians as well, though I couldn’t see them, were beyond exhaustion. Simply from killing. Simply from the arm’s thrust of the spear, the shoulder’s heave of the shield, the thunder of blood through the vies and the hammering of the heart within the breast. The earth grew, not littered with the enemy bodies, but piled with them. Stacked with them. Mounded with them.

This struck me because if you simply get exhausted from killing than you must be plenty better than your enemy. I would be horrified if so many people just jumped upon my spear. Spartans have seen death around them so many times, but not like this. They were so used to war, the countries besides the real Persians were forced and a bit unwilling to fight. They were nearly selfless giving up their bodies like that.
How could you just throw yourself at your enemy, I would at least try to put up a fight and die in honor, rather then doing something that is rather suicidal. The nerve of sensing that your time is coming to and end might have been a reason why they choose such horrible action. Maybe it was the people who whipped them from the back so that the front would go forward.

What I Am Thankful For

I am thankful that Jesus died that I may enter his kingdom when my time here is done. I am thankful for my family: my mom, dad, and my two brothers. I am thankful for the house the lord has provided so that I have a roof over my head, a shelter, a place that I am all ways welcome to. I am very thankful for who I am.

I am thankful that god didn't give me any deformities. I am thankful for getting good, hardy, and healthy food. I am thankful that I have a school to go, and am able to get a good education. I am thankful that my parents have cars to go places and go on errands. I am thankful for living in the US and living in the beautiful San Diego.

I am thankful for the pretty good weather that we get here. I am thankful for all the little luxuries that my parents get. I am thankful for not having to live under poverty. I am thankful that my parents have not lost their jobs. I am thankful for the clothes I get and am able to afford. I am thankful for having a healthy body and mind.

Gates of Fire chapter 7

Quote: Diomache sought to comfort me by equating my ruin to hers. i scorned her bitterly. "you can still be a woman. What can I do? How can I ever take my place in the line of battle.

It seems pretty scary to have your hands get all messed up and have two big holes in your palms. Then when someone tells you of their troubles that don't even compare to your own, oh that just makes it worse, because they don't think it is as bad as it really is. If he doesn't get help from a doctor , he's screwed.

Gates of Fire Chapter 5

Quote: their own fear defeats our enemies.

This struck me because it showed that the Spartans had piratically no fear. Also by showing this in battle, it made the enemy very scared. This is why the Spartans were so respected. I would be pretty scared if I were up against greatly respected men who are gravely outnumbered, and who show no sign of fear.
Just that part about Tri-pod only gave me a taste as to what happened in those training camps. they really worked those boy's hard, for 13 years!!!

gates of fire chapter 4

quote: this I learned then:there is always fire.

What struck me was that this was very true. this is because fire has so much pitilessness. It consumes everything in it's path. it is always somewhere, somewhere where it helps us humans, or destroying and engulfing things, changing every thing it touches.
I think that the boy, after the destruction of his city is describing how at that time everywhere you looked there was fire. I think tat there was not only fire around him, but there was also fire burning within himself because of the slaughter of his mother and father.

Pesidential Election

I don't not know who I think should win. I don't know who I would want to win. I just think that Obama and McCain are both great leaders and they are both worthy of being president. I just think that they picked a bad time to be president because of the recession, depression.

Many of the people that I know would like it a lot better if McCain would win. Most of them are afraid of Obama full name. Though few of them are just racist. The only things that I have a problem with is that Obama is OK with gay marriage and abortion. I'm not being racist.

You might think that I'm crazy for saying this but sometimes think that whoever wins could be the Anti-Christ. I think that Obama is something new because of his race and that's what some people want. they want something new, it brings more excitement. Here is a link that is about race in the election http://www.america.gov/st/elections08-english/2008/June/200806301621521xeneerg0.7737543.html

I think this photo shows Rafael Nadal in triumph. I have all ways liked the way that played, how hard he tries. This photo makes Rafa look like he is ready for a big fight and that is why I like it. It makes him look like he is a hero in an epic.

Code for Secret Life of Bee's

1) my predictions for the "Secret Life of Bee's" book were almost on target.

2) I predicted that the book would be inspiring kind of book. I also predicted that bees would have a big part in the book.

3) I thought that Lily didn't kill her mother. I thought the people in the town would know her better. i didn't know that Lilly had such a crooked life.

literay divice #4

I played tons of tennis together with my father and and brother. I have made another big boring blog post. I finished all of the homework for Charlotte's class. then I watched the inspirational movie of 'ROCKY BALBOA II'. It was amazing, astounding, astonishing to see him struggle in life and then train hard to win the big fight against Apollo Creed. I then went to the scuba lessons for ex block on Sunday, which was exhilarating, exciting and exhausting at the same time.

I then came back home and played with my little brother Noah, who is so cute, cuddly and captivating. I ate a splendid, scrumptious and spectacular homemade meal my parents had prepared, packing it with pundit flavors. I finally went to sleep in my comfortable bed, feeling cozy and content.

cliche'

I love to play tennis and when I do I KICK ASS. I am as fast if not faster than a cheetah. I can be as Quiet as a mouse. I hate mean people and anybody that finds joy in pestering or harming other people. Anybody that pesters me always gets a taste of their own medicine.

I am like a title wave amongst the other waves in the ocean. I am cool as ice in the Arctic. I am pure quietness in the darkest corners. I am like the moon and the shooting stars at night showing the skills I that I got. I am one of the many bright lights in my class. I am the calmness of the oceans clear waters.

LDW: epic (examples from Homer's Iliad)

The main character or protagonist is heroically larger than life, often the source and subject of legend. (Achillies, the Greeks best fighter)

The deeds of the hero are written without favoritism, revealing his failings as well as his short comings of being perfect. (Achillies short temper, his imperfectness)

The Gods and lesser divinities play an active role in the outcome of actions. (Apollo came down the mountain and let lose arrows of plague)

My Hero Jesus

My favorite hero is Jesus Christ because he came down to earth to show us the way, the truth and the light. also because he loves each one of us so much that he died for our sins and paid the price that we would never be able to pay. The lies and the sins that we do on a daily basis can be so terrible but yet died for it before it ever committed.

Many people see Jesus as a hero, because he died for us and that he is God and that he loves us a lot. Though some people think that he was not God but was only a human. some people think he was only a wise prophet. Others think he never existed and that the bible is only a fairytale. Jesus does have enemies, simply the devil and his demons.
