LDW: epic (examples from Homer's Iliad)

The main character or protagonist is heroically larger than life, often the source and subject of legend. (Achillies, the Greeks best fighter)

The deeds of the hero are written without favoritism, revealing his failings as well as his short comings of being perfect. (Achillies short temper, his imperfectness)

The Gods and lesser divinities play an active role in the outcome of actions. (Apollo came down the mountain and let lose arrows of plague)
