What I Am Thankful For

I am thankful that Jesus died that I may enter his kingdom when my time here is done. I am thankful for my family: my mom, dad, and my two brothers. I am thankful for the house the lord has provided so that I have a roof over my head, a shelter, a place that I am all ways welcome to. I am very thankful for who I am.

I am thankful that god didn't give me any deformities. I am thankful for getting good, hardy, and healthy food. I am thankful that I have a school to go, and am able to get a good education. I am thankful that my parents have cars to go places and go on errands. I am thankful for living in the US and living in the beautiful San Diego.

I am thankful for the pretty good weather that we get here. I am thankful for all the little luxuries that my parents get. I am thankful for not having to live under poverty. I am thankful that my parents have not lost their jobs. I am thankful for the clothes I get and am able to afford. I am thankful for having a healthy body and mind.

Gates of Fire chapter 7

Quote: Diomache sought to comfort me by equating my ruin to hers. i scorned her bitterly. "you can still be a woman. What can I do? How can I ever take my place in the line of battle.

It seems pretty scary to have your hands get all messed up and have two big holes in your palms. Then when someone tells you of their troubles that don't even compare to your own, oh that just makes it worse, because they don't think it is as bad as it really is. If he doesn't get help from a doctor , he's screwed.

Gates of Fire Chapter 5

Quote: their own fear defeats our enemies.

This struck me because it showed that the Spartans had piratically no fear. Also by showing this in battle, it made the enemy very scared. This is why the Spartans were so respected. I would be pretty scared if I were up against greatly respected men who are gravely outnumbered, and who show no sign of fear.
Just that part about Tri-pod only gave me a taste as to what happened in those training camps. they really worked those boy's hard, for 13 years!!!

gates of fire chapter 4

quote: this I learned then:there is always fire.

What struck me was that this was very true. this is because fire has so much pitilessness. It consumes everything in it's path. it is always somewhere, somewhere where it helps us humans, or destroying and engulfing things, changing every thing it touches.
I think that the boy, after the destruction of his city is describing how at that time everywhere you looked there was fire. I think tat there was not only fire around him, but there was also fire burning within himself because of the slaughter of his mother and father.
